The Town is engaged in community development through the use of federal funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, and through innovative partnerships with local non-profit organizations. In 2014, the Town adopted a Comprehensive Housing Strategy to address the housing needs of our community.
The Town also partners with Community Foundation, Inc. and Our Towns Habitat for Humanity to provide affordable housing for low-moderate income families. Critical Repair Program
Our Towns Habitat for Humanity provides assistance to qualifying homeowners with a range of home repairs including weatherization. For information about qualifications requirements and services, call Our Towns Habitat for Humanity Family Services at 704-896-8957 ext. 125.
I-Care Inc. of Statesville offers the U.S. Department of Energy's Weatherization Assistance Program free to qualifying low income households with children. They also offer energy saving strategies to single family homes, multi family homes or mobile homes. For more information, call 704-872-8141.
Down Payment Assistance Program
Through this program, financed by HOME funds through the Department of Housing and Urban Development, home buyers can receive a depreciating loan of up to $5,000 to use for their down payment, prepaid expenses or closing cost. Applicants of this program must be a first-time home buyer and have an annual income that does not exceed 80% of the area median income of their household size.
