Assistant Fire Chief – Shane LaCount

Assistant Fire Chief Shane LaCount is responsible for Training, Safety & Risk Management for the Mooresville Fire & Rescue (MFR) and serves in the absence of the Fire Chief. Prior to joining the MFR in 2008, LaCount served as a training officer, fire inspector and fire investigator for other fire departments. He also served as Assistant Professor and Fire & Safety Coordinator for Eastern Kentucky University. He still serves the university as an online instructor and OSHA trainer.

LaCount received an associate degree from Gaston College and an undergraduate degree and a Master of Science degree from Eastern Kentucky University. He holds numerous certifications from the Office of the State Fire Marshal and is enrolled in the National Fire Academy – Executive Fire Officer Program.

A member of the North Carolina Association of Fire Chiefs, North Carolina State Firemen’s Association, International Association of Fire Chiefs and the Iredell County Firefighter’s Association, LaCount is married and has one daughter.
