Fire Marshal – Gary Styers
Fire Marshal Gary Styers joined Mooresville Fire & Rescue (MFR) in 2005 and is in charge of the Fire Marshal's Office. As Fire Marshal, Styers manages and coordinates Fire Inspections, Fire Investigations, Fire Educational Programs, and the review of construction plans for fire code compliance. Also, Styers has been responsible for the planning of the department’s response within the town limits of Mooresville as it relates to annexations and service delivery.
Styers has served in the Fire Service for over 20 years after beginning his career in Forsyth County. Prior to working with MFR, Styers served as a firefighter, Fire Officer, Fire Instructor, and Investigator in Forsyth and Lincoln Counties as well as the City of Charlotte. He also serves as an adjunct instructor for local colleges.
Styers received an associate degree from Guildford Technical College,an undergraduate degree from Charter Oak State College, and a Master of Public Administration degree from UNC-Pembroke. Styers holds numerous state certifications in the areas of Fire, Rescue, Hazardous Materials, Emergency Medical, Fire Inspections, Arson, Fire Education, Fire Officer and as a Fire Service Instructor.
Married with one daughter, Styers holds memberships in numerous job-related associations and is also involved in community organizations such as the Mooresville/Lake Norman Exchange Club. He is also an Assistant Fire Chief with the South Iredell Volunteer Fire Department.
