Citizens Police Academy

2013 Citizens Police Academy Application

The Mooresville Police Department’s Citizens Police Academy is a ten-week program designed to provide Mooresville residents, business owners and the media an informative look at the operations of their local police department. Although some of the meetings will involve classroom presentations, students will also participate in simulations and hands-on activities. It is not the mission of the Academy to train citizens to become police officers but to help raise awareness, understanding, and trust within the community.

Beginning Tuesday, March 5, 2013, the Academy’s classes will meet consecutive Tuesday nights from 6 – 9 p.m.

During the Academy, topics will include:
• Overview & Training/Recruiting
• Patrol Operations
• Communications & Record Keeping
• Arrest Processing
• Criminal Investigations & Crime Scene Searches
• Court Proceedings
• Specialized Units
• Realistic Scenarios for Responding Officers

The Academy is open to Mooresville residents and business owners who are at least 18 years old. Applications are available at the Police Department, 750 West Iredell Avenue, or by clicking the application link above.
