About the Mayor's Council for Individuals with Disabilities
In May 2012, a steering committee met to discuss forming a Council for Individuals with Disabilities for the purpose of advocating to make Mooresville a Model City for Individuals with Disabilities. The steering committee, along with Mayor Miles Atkins, discussed the possible purpose and vision of such a council and how to move forward. A chairperson was selected and the Mooresville Mayor's Council for Individuals with Disabilities was confirmed by resolution in September 2012. Since that time, the MCIWD has worked on positioning the Council to focus on several projects by forming subcommittees and the Council also worked with UNC-Charlotte Master of Public Administration students to develop a comprehensive study of best practices.
The MCIWD Executive Council meets at 5:30 p.m. on the 4th Tuesday of each month in Building B, Room 205 at Mitchell Community College - Mooresville Campus.
