[ARCHIVED] Mooresville Public Library August Adult Services Programs.

The Write Stuff: MPL's Prompt Writing Group:

(Wednesday, August 7 from 6:30PM-8:30PM).

Join us to participate in Mooresville Public Library's monthly prompt writing group. This program will take place in the Selma Burke Room, located on the library's main floor.


Mindful Mondays:

(Monday, August 12 from 11:00AM-12:00PM).

Join us for free meditation sessions at your library! Everyone is welcome. This program will take place in the Selma Burke Room, located on the library's main floor.


YA Anonymous Book Club:

(Tuesday, August 13 from 6:30PM-8:30PM). Registration is required.

Are you an adult who loves to read Young Adult books? Join us for our group discussion of the Young Adult book of the month. This month's selection is Three Dark Crowns, by Kendare Blake. This program will take place in the Selma Burke Room, located on the library's main floor. A copy of this book will be provided for you by the library. Register at:

Genealogy Essentials: Deciphering Old Handwriting and the Oddities of Older Documents:

(Wednesday, August 14 from 1:00PM-4:00PM).

Join us for tips on deciphering the terminology and handwriting in old manuscripts and other documents from "back in the day." After class, there will be time for more individualized attention and/or skill practice for those who desire it. Bring your own laptop or borrow one of ours. This program will take place in the Selma Burke Room, located on the library's main floor.

Create and Learn:

(Tuesday, August 27 from 10:00AM-12:00PM).

This program is targeted at adults with special needs/learning disabilities. Come have fun and make new friends while exploring different creative activities. A different activity is offered each month. Attend this month and create a Summer keepsake box using maps. This program will take place in the Selma Burke Room, located on the library's main floor.


French Conversation Group:

(Tuesday, August 27 from 6:30PM-8:30PM).

Already speak French but would like to meet other people interested in speaking French and French culture? Join us for our French conversation group. This program will take place downstairs in the youth services community room.


Friends of the Library Drop-In Book Club:

(Tuesday, August 27 from 7:00PM-8:00PM).

Copies are available for check-out. You will find them next to the book club display, in the Adult Fiction section. This month's selection is the Devil's Half Mile, by Paddy Hirsh. This program will take place in the Selma Burke Room, located on the library's main floor. 


MPL's Non-Fiction Book Club:

(Wednesday, August 28 from 10:00AM-12:00PM). Registration is required.

We invite you to our group discussion of Maid, by Stephanie Land. You must register for this program. A copy of this book will be provided for you by the library. This program will take place in the Selma Burke Room, located on the library's main floor. Register at:

Snacks and a Movie:

(Thursday, August 29 from 1:00PM-3:00PM).

Join us for a newly released movie and a snack. Call the adult reference desk at 704-663-1062 for the movie selection. This program will take place in the Selma Burke Room, located on the library's main floor.


Mooresville Library Knitting Group:

(Thursday, August 1 and Thursday, August 15 from 2:00PM-4:00PM).

Trade patterns and tips with others who love knitting. Bring your current project with you. All skill levels welcome, from beginners to experts. This program will take place in the Selma Burke Room, located on the library's main floor.


Coffee and Coloring:

(Tuesdays, 8/6, 8/13, 8/20, and 8/27 from 2:00PM-3:30PM).

Join us for a hot drink, adult coloring, and conversation. Let off some stress by exploring your creative side and coloring. Enjoy relaxing activity, coffee, and conversation. Come unwind after your busy day, and enjoy coffee, coloring, and camaraderie. Supplies are provided, but feel free to bring your own. This program will take place in the Selma Burke Room, located on the library's main floor.
